One and a half years ago Dil Bahadur joined the CWS supported JYOTI Vocational Training Centre to learn a skill as a Plumber and Metal Fabricator. Now in the final six months of his course he has joined the Kowloon Rotary Club supported Asha Stoves Project to gain practical experience in a working environment.
Here at CWS Dil has been supervised and working with, Sukh Maya herself a graduate in 2005 of the same course at JYOTI.
During his time with the Asha Stoves Project Dil has learned a variety of new skills and experiences, and a noticeable change in him has been seen.
Work has taken him on visits to different communities in various parts of west Nepal where the stoves team have interacted with communities, formally introducing themselves, explaining where they're from, and what their role is with the CWS team.
As Dil's course finishes he is starting to think about his future and his wish is for a long term job in the metal fabrication line.
Reflecting back on his time and experience with the Asha Stoves team Dil says he's enjoyed assembling and installing stoves most, and his most memorable moment was when he was taken by the CWS driver Raju on a short trip across the Indian border to see a train, something he had only ever heard about!
